Patent Writing
The 2010 Edition, - of the 'Patent Writing Kit'
A writing kit for the preparation of a complete patent specification.
U.S., Australia and other English speaking jurisdictions
In the words of Charles Dickens, "it is the purpose of English law to make business for itself".
In the twenty first century world of free trade and global economics it is, in fact,
the business of patent law which is by far the biggest business of them all. For the attorneys,
executives, administrators, labourers and manufacturers the patent process and regulation of monopolies
works inclusively to stimulate desired effects in commercial trade, growth and development.
Where, one may ask, does this leave the modest, mindful sole inventor? Unlike thousands of
engineers and scientists employed world wide in research and developement, the humble
'tinker tailor' has only limited time and resources to contemplate, consider and create.
In the course of a lifetime the average inventor is likely to produce numerous novel ideas which
are prima facie patentable.
Some will be patently viable and commercially practical, others will not.
'To patent or not to patent?' That is the question, and the answer will be based decidedly
on factors of cost and opportunity. The purpose of this book is to provide
the inventor/patentee with encouragement to 'have a go' and research every opportunity,
rather then abandon an otherwise patentable invention.
Patent Writing Pty. Ltd. was originally established with a view to providing the
inventor with practical and technical information on developing and writing ones'
own patent specification.
The information contained in the Patent Writing Kit is the product of collaborative
research and inquiry into the writing of a patent specification and addresses the drafting
and construction of a complete patent specification in accordance with
U.S., Australia and other English speaking jurisdictions.
As such, it is intended that the information provided in this book
will enhance the readers ability to better understanding and scrutinize the process of
developing, constructing and drafting a patent specification.
